HISTORY OF FORT SPOKANE BATTALION
At the request of the Department of the Navy, the Navy League of the United States established the USNSCC in 1962 to "create a favorable image of the Navy on the part of American youth."
Training Ship Spokane was commissioned in 1997 and Fort Spokane Battalion followed shortly behind with gaining a commission in 1999.
Since then, our organization has provided a safe learning environment where young adults learn about military structure, service to the community, critical teamwork skills, and valuable leadership techniques that can be utilized not only in the military but in college, the corporate world, and in every aspect of life.
